About Voikos

The name Voikos is composed of a “V” and the word “oikos”.

Oikos comes from the Greek and refers to three related concepts: the family, the family’s property, and the home. The oikos was the basic unit of society in ancient Greece. It included the family members, the servants, the land, the buildings, and all movable inventory. The head of the household (entrepreneur) made sure that the property, prosperity, and reputation of the oikos were preserved, and that the long-term livelihood of the family was secured through long-term economic management.

Oikos is the root of our terms economy and ecology. While ecology stands for the study of the balance of nature, economics encompasses the realm of financial activity. These two fields developed independently for a long time. However, it has recently become clear that a successful future depends on economy and ecology working more closely together, also taking into account the interests of society.

The green “V” of Voikos represents sustainable value generation as well as lived values.

Voikos thus stands for the sustainable union of economy, ecology, and social responsibility in entrepreneurial activity – which, in turn, generates value and values.
